Why Zenith Exists
The technical writing landscape is fragmented. Zenith brings precision editing to markdown with first-class support for LaTeX, code, and structured documents.
Why Zenith Exists
Technical writing tools fall into two camps: powerful but complex (LaTeX editors, Overleaf) or simple but limited (basic markdown editors). Zenith bridges that gap.
The Problem
When you're writing a research paper, a technical specification, or engineering documentation, you need:
- LaTeX math rendering that's fast and correct
- Citations and diagrams — BibTeX, Zotero, and Mermaid as first-class features
- Structured documents with proper heading hierarchy, cross-references, and metadata
- Speed — your editor shouldn't lag on long documents
Most markdown editors treat these as afterthoughts. We built Zenith to make them first-class features.
Our Approach
Zenith is a native-quality editor that runs in the browser. It's built on modern web technologies but optimized for the kind of performance you'd expect from a desktop app.
We'll be writing more about the technical decisions behind Zenith in upcoming notes. Stay tuned.
